PARTY POLICIES AND VALUES
Should Christians vote Green? Christian Democrat? Liberal? Labor? Democrat? National? Or what?….
Gordon Moyes is standing for the Christian Democratic Party and Jim Reiher is standing for the Greens.
- Both are committed, evangelical Christians.
- Both are vitally concerned about our society and the world we live in.
- Both have dedicated their lives to the service of God.
- Both are actively involved in politics.
- And both have done a great job in responding to the question EA put to them: ‘Why should a Christian vote for their party?’
It is important to read both answers. They have different views on the way that faith should be worked out in practice. Most Christians are willing to agree that being politically involved is a good thing but in preparing material for this web-site we have found that the closer one brings Christian values to political values the more people tend to shy away. Other people from other parties have been asked to respond to this question and when they reply we will include them here - but it has not been as easy to get replies to this question as it has been to get responses to issues relating to other parts of the web-site. Of course, there are some good reasons for this difficulty as people with a public profile often have to be careful they do not alienate certain people by stating a political opinion. Indeed, we at EA do not want to be directly party political as we recognise that our members and supporters legitimately support a range of political views. But we also believe that Christian invovment in the political process is vital for the health and well-being of our society.

A Comparison of Party Values – by Brian Edgar
Decisions about which political party to support or which person to vote for in an election for can be made on a number of grounds, including personality, policies, performance and principles or values. This article allows for a comparison of the fundamental values of the Australian Democrats (AD), the Australian Greens (Greens), the Australian Labor Party (ALP), the Christian Democratic Party (CDP), the Liberal Party of Australia (Lib) the Nationals (Nat) and the Family First Party (FFP).
