Useful Information
AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS NUMBER (ABN)
The Australian Taxation Office has advised that its only requirement for displaying an ABN is that it must be shown on all TAX INVOICES by the providers of those invoices, and on all RECEIPTS by the recipients of tax deductible donations.
Registered companies must show their ACN (with the prefix ACN) on all public documents and negotiable instruments (which I take to include letterheads, cheques, brochures and the like). Where a company has obtained an ABN and the last nine characters are identical to and in the same sequence as its ACN, the company can substitute its ACN with its ABN (with the prefix ABN) on the same documents as listed above.
SUPERANNUATION - CO-CONTRIBUTIONS
The Super Co-contribution is a helping hand from the Australian government to assist eligible individuals to save for their retirement. For those eligible, the government will contribute $1.50 for every $1.00 of personal contributions you put into Superannuation in a financial year, up to a maximum of $1,500 for your contribution of $1,000 for income up to $28,000, phasing out at an income of $58,000. Eligibility factors include the need to have at least 10% of your income from eligible Australian employment income, lodgment of an Australian tax return and being aged less than 71 at the end of the year of income.
